Start/end Date:
Winter/Spring 2019
Scope:
The full renovation of this ancient building has been realised by Design Luxury Ltd team after Michele Desimine project design.
In the heart of the medieval village, just two minutes from the imposing Palazzo Baldassarre, home of the archaic man of Altamura, and a few meters from Claustro Giuseppe Nicola Altieri, in which the master gave light to his beautiful sculptures, rises the elegant residence Dolcepane. The B&B owes its name to the close bond that its soft design in the lines and traditional colors, immersed in a silent alley, has with the proximity of the two ancient wood-burning ovens of the town: “Santa Chiara e Santa Caterina”. The building stands at the end of the 1600s and is to be defined in the context, the only one of its kind for the attention aimed at its historical recovery. Its uniqueness is also due to the bio-architecture studied and targeted in the use of the restoration materials used.
It consists of two independent solutions, separated on two floors and joined by an ancient and singular stone staircase, the recovery of which was the subject of study and professionalism of old and skilled local artisans. The two levels, different in style and furnishings, have in common the continuous reminder of the geometry of the walls and are equipped with a private bathroom, air conditioning, a hair dryer, a mini – bar, a living area and an independent hob. In order to offer guests the opportunity to stay in the maximum of behavior and privacy.
“Il Professore” ( “The professor” is the name gave to the first floor apartment)
The tuff walls, separated at times and then joined by wooden inserts: the only elements of the structural engineering of the era, illuminated by a singular Murano chandelier of the early 1900s, give the room a past elegance that timidly lets itself be unveiled from the guest entrance. The floor plays with a series of joints between antique terracotta, glass oak and hand-worked stone.
“La Sartina” (“The seamstress”)
The combination of furniture, objects and pieces of art gives rise to an eclectic mix of styles. A mélange of ancient and modern, embellished with numerous small objects of extraordinary refinement.
